Today’s booter

“Mom, I need a wee!”

Not everyone likes carboot sales. Firstly, they’re usually held in fields so are covered in cow shit. Secondly the snippets of conversation you get to hear are rough.

You get the picture.

This is just my cup of tea though. And at the Stafford Common Carboot Sale a cup of tea costs 50p, comes in a polystyrene cup and is designed to take the enamel of your teeth. Beats Starbucks.

There’s lots of crap for sale too, but I managed to come away with:
A baby blue lambswool Hackett sweater for him, 50p (will sell for £1.99 on ebay)
Penguin Classics (4 for £2.50 – all brand new)
Mapp and Lucia by E.F.Benson
The Diary of a Nobody by George and Weedon Grossmith
Scoop by Evelyn Waugh

Psychics & Mystics by Margaret Nicholas (The World’s Greatest series), 25p
The Runes – a set of runes complete with book, bag and rune stones, 50p

I gave 50p to the woman whose photo I took.

I took breakfast there too – a burger and burnt onions rammed into a tiny white bap. Bit overpriced at £2.50 but it filled a hole.

There were a few things that I didn’t buy but would have liked too. But I don’t like to spend more than 50p on any one item at boot sales. There was a (nicked?) Iceberg suit for £10, a brown and orange 70s tea set, boxed, £3, an onion cutter from the 70s, £1 and some very very fake and plastic Chanel mules for a whooping £10.

All in all I’m pleased with my buys and am off to do my runes now… after I’ve been for a wee of course.
